You asked, we delivered! Due to the success of our workshop and partnership with Mooongoat, we have expanded our workshop capacity from nine to forty!

Join us for this unique workshop and experience the health benefits of matcha green tea which is rich in antioxidants and an amino-acid L-theanine which enhances alpha brain waves (inducing calm focus). The antioxidants it contains may lower blood pressure, reduce your risk of heart disease, and even boost your metabolism. Matcha does contain more caffeine than regular green tea, but it doesn’t give you a buzzy rush like coffee, you’ll feel energized and focused, but still calm.

  • Learn the history and process of matcha - form new neural connections and strengthen existing pathways which can lead to improved performance and higher self-esteem

  • Enhance your ability to be present in the moment

  • Taste authentic ceremonial grade matcha directly from Japan

  • Meet new people in the workshop

  • Create a pottery bowl for your own matcha

  • Enjoy the health benefits of matcha

  • Receive a free matcha kit at the end of the workshop

If you’re not familiar with matcha, it’s a Japanese green tea powder made from finely powdered dried tea leaves. It has a slightly bitter, vegetal taste and a vibrant green color that results from the leaves’ high chlorophyll levels. It’s been the cornerstone of traditional Japanese tea ceremonies for centuries, but it recently became popular in the US because of its health benefits. It originally developed from the Buddhist monks who refined the art of preparing and consuming tea as a means of aiding mental focus during meditation. Today, local companies like Moongoat are committed to upholding Japanese green tea traditions and making matcha accessible, it is now widely consumed as both a daily beverage and as a versatile culinary ingredient.

Pottery & Matcha Mixer: For this special 2-hour workshop, we are collaborating with Orange County’s #1 Roaster Moongoat. For the first hour, Moongoat Matcha Specialist will introduce the history and process of the stone-grounded matcha tea - from its roots in Zen Buddhist thought and practice, the development of the traditional Japanese tea ceremony to contemporary practices of consuming Matcha. You will also be taught how to whisk your own matcha. During this first hour, you will be able to socialize with others in the workshop. This will be a communal/social experience just as tea was historically intended to be in Japan through their Traditional Tea Ceremonies. For the last hour of the workshop, you will be hand-building with clay a bowl for your matcha. At the end of the workshop, each participant will be gifted a Matcha Kit (includes a whisker, knob, & matcha powder).

Your bowl will be fired and glazed by us. At the end of the workshop, you will be able to choose a color and you will be able to pick it up 3 weeks after. All materials are provided during the workshop. Class taught by Moongoat & ARTime Barro instructors.

We ask you to join us in being fully present by putting away all your electronic devices during the workshop. Also, there are no transactions in the space.
