Classes Offered in Laguna Studio
One-Time Class
This is a one-time class for people wanting to experience pottery and ceramics for the first time, or for anyone interested in getting back into it. Great for a date or a family class as well!
In the one-time class, each person makes 2 pieces, one on the table and one on the wheel. The instructor will lead you through the basic curriculum of pottery. The projects made are small to medium sized. The class is one hour long and we give you the option to come back and glaze the pieces on another day (no extra fee, we email you to book) or we may glaze for you

Wheel Thrown Planter Class
This is a one-time class for people wanting to experience the beginnings of working on the potter’s wheel while making something useful for your home: a flower pot! In the wheel-thrown planter class, each person makes 1 planter and 1 dish, both on the wheel.
The class emphasizes the basics of working on the wheel including wedging, clay prep, a micro-lesson on centering, and steps to make a planter. The projects made are small to medium-sized. The class is one hour long. We glaze the planters for students. Students will choose a color before they leave and pick up the glazed pieces 4 weeks later.
*Recommended to take the One-Time Class first but not required.*

Monthly Ongoing Membership
Geared towards teaching all of our students the basis of hand-building and throwing. Our ongoing classes are to be considered an extended curriculum in hand-building or throwing. In regards to throwing, we start with the basics which include wedging clay, centering, coning, and starting with basic forms like cylinders/cups, bowls, and slowly progress to taller, wider, and shapely pieces.
Learning to throw is a process and we specialize in beginner or intermediate potters who want to hone in on the building blocks of throwing and perfect them. Handbuilding is all about clay manipulation and table work. We teach our students the basics with techniques like coiling, extruding, slab work, etc. Classes are small and personalized to your experience level. All experience levels are welcome.

Open Studio
Open studio is for independent artists who are experienced enough to work on their own and who need the space and machines/tools to work with. The fee includes the use of machines, tools, and space and the bisque firing of all of the pieces made within the time you are in the open studio.

Kyle
Kyle Denton is a ceramic artist, born and raised in San Clemente California. While studying at San Francisco State University, he received his BA in studio arts with a focus in ceramics. Furthering his ceramic studies in New Zealand, he worked as a production potter to help develop his skills using a variety of techniques. His work is influenced by the Southern California surf culture while finding inspiration in the different environments he’s lived in. He has been featured in galleries internationally and is continuing to perfect his craft through producing pottery for his business, Dntn Ceramics, and teaching at ARTime Barro.

Nicole has always been surrounded by art in all forms. Her artistic background starts with sketching and painting until she started with ceramics in her mother’s first studio. Her interest in utilitarian art and ceramics of different countries like Mexico and Spain, where she lived and studied, led her and her mother to open this pottery-only studio in Laguna Beach.

I am from the small town of Solvang Ca. I moved to Orange County to be close to the beach and study art at Concordia University. It wasn't until my last semester of school that I began my ceramic journey. In 2022 while working as a barista I co founded ROCO Ceramics and started selling my work in coffee shops around the area. I feel very fortunate that my passion is also my job. Although the majority of my time is spent on the wheel, I've found that I feel the most inspired when I'm outside hiking, swimming, or camping. As an instructor my goal is to show people the healing effects of ceramics and make everyone feel welcomed into the community.
