Lidded Jar Workshop

Join us for a creative 2-hour workshop focused on crafting beautiful lidded jars, perfect for beginner to intermediate potters. This session provides hands-on experience with wheel throwing techniques and is designed to enhance your pottery skills in a supportive and engaging environment.

Materials Included
Clay
Throwing tools (participants are encouraged to bring their own)
Torch / Heat gun
Process
Throwing the Base: Using about 1 pound of clay, each student will throw a cylindrical shape on the wheel and form it into their desired jar shape.
Forming the Lid: The top of the cylinder will be collared until it is completely closed.
Drying Process: We'll use a torch or heat gun to start the drying process.
Creating the Lid: Once the clay reaches a stiffer stage, students will use a needle tool to cut out the lid along a bevel line.
Adding a Handle: While waiting for the pieces to dry, students will create a handle or knob from a small piece of clay.
Final Touches: After the jar and lid are completed, students can choose colors for glazing the inside and outside of their lidded jars.
