Workshop Description:
How to Build Your Temple Vessel
Expand your pottery skills and ignite your creativity with our Vessel Retreats X Studio Workshops. Guided by Freya Bramble-Carter, you'll delve into the intricacies of handling large amounts of clay, mastering techniques such as spiral wedging, centering, throwing, and assembling.
Freya Bramble-Carter, a renowned ceramics teacher and artist based in London, creates work with a strong connection to nature, capturing the flowing energy and fluidity in form. Growing up with clay at her fingertips, she learned the craft under her father and master potter, Chris Bramble’s guidance. Freya has been featured in Vogue, House and Garden, Ceramic Review, and more, with international gallery representation and brand collaborations. Her newest venture, Vessel Retreats, combines clay, yoga, and mindfulness to build connection, develop skill, and unlock creativity.
Two-Day Workshop:
Day 1:
Begin with a centering meditation and learn the foundations of preparing your clay through kneading and spiral wedging. After demonstrations, you'll explore a range of formations on the wheel, using these forms on Day 2 to assemble your final larger-scale vase. Freya will share techniques, demonstrations, and personal guidance throughout.
Day 2:
Back on the wheel, you'll learn to use tools to define the shape of your thrown vessels, adding definition and finesse. Freya will demonstrate how to assemble elements into one vessel, refining curves and angles and adding surface decoration. The workshop ends with a soothing sound bath experience.
Both workshops provide a grazing board and light refreshments throughout. Materials are included, but firing of pieces is not included. The day workshop is suited to beginners, while the two-day workshop is better for intermediates with prior throwing experience.
Cancellation Policy:
No refunds are available for workshops. To reschedule, 24 hours' notice is required, and a credit for future use will be given. Finished work must be collected within 8 weeks after the collection announcement; uncollected work will be donated and repurposed.
